Workshop
Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced

My handstand workshops are for everyone who would like to learn to do a handstand or improve their skills.

My participants have various backgrounds, some are circus artists, cross fitters, acro-yogis or people who just enjoy practising acrobatics in their free time.

A handstand workshop usually consists of two sessions over two days. The beginners group will be 2h 30min and the advanced 3h 30min, with time to warm up in the beginning and time for questions afterwards.

I will explain training methods, different handstand shapes as well as stretching and conditioning exercises and my approach towards training.

In the beginners group we typically cover handstand preparation exercises, kick-ups, wall handstands, the freestanding handstand and basic shapes. In the advanced group we look at straddle, tuck and pike shapes, press to handstand, backbends and one arm handstands amongst other things.

– This group is for you if your freestanding balance is less than 10 seconds

– Try doing a straddle and tuck handstand, do you fall out straight away or can you hold a few seconds?

– Stand with your back to the wall and lift the arms overhead: Can you touch the wall with straight arms without your ribs sticking out?

– You have a comfortable 10 second freestanding balance. Comfortable means you can breathe and it is not a big struggle to keep your shoulders open.

– You are ready to start working on shapes and can hold a straddle handstand for 5 seconds

– You don’t have to be able to press or do any of the more advanced moves

– You can take part in the advanced group if you are interested in learning some of the advanced moves but your are not quite ready. You might not be able to do all of the exercises but you will learn what to work on in the future.
